Atuk & Tok Ma jalan-jalan di Hannover sebelum Raya....(bought our Doner for berbuka..)

Thousand apologies for the long break, just wasn’t in the mood for writing. Nothing much happened anyway from the last update of early Ramadan. I was summoned back to Malaysia for meetings and presentation to the powers that be and although I was glad to be back, the first few days were filled with apprehension since my presentation was scheduled 3 days after touchdown. Habis presentation jer baru legaaaaa……and got to enjoy what was left of the trip back. The best was the time spent with Jaja. She could only spare one night with Mama Dearest as she’s right smack in the midst of SPM Trial Exam. She landed at 10.20 pm and we went straight to TGIF @ Subang Parade for supper… Chicken Cheese Melt, Macaroni Cheese and the heavenly Mocha Mud Pie….yummy!
(Some of the Chokelat tht went back to Msia..)
Next day, full day shopping for her baju Raya and baju sekolah Syirah at Sunway Pyramid. Time sure flies when you’re having fun….had to rush back home at 5.30 pm, collect her stuff and drove like a mad woman to Subang Airport via the choked NKVE balik bukak puasa crawl for her flight back to KT. Desperate situation calls for desperate measures….so my usage of the emergency lane all the way on the NKVE saved the day…. sampai just in the nick of time for her to check-in and terus boarding. That’s the beauty of Malaysia…Boleh Land….had I done that in Germany….mesti dapat mega demerit points and kena banned from driving for 6 months!

(Imran with his skul Football Jersey & Apple depan rumah dah bole dipetik)
Balik kali ni tak sempat catch-up with sedara mara or friends….only managed to have quick chats with Ija, Ida and Alin over the phone, itu pun depa call tanya apasal tak cakap nak balik. Memang this is an impromptu trip, was informed on Friday that I have to take the flight back on Sunday. Days were filled with meetings at the office and buka puasa with colleagues. Opah looked happy to see me….berkali-kali mentioned that how glad she was of the opportunity to see me again and berpuluh dan berulang kali dia tanya bila sampai and bila balik….sometimes I would see tears at the corner of her eyes while terbaring and I try as much as I can to sit with her and answer her repeated questions. Such a pitiful and heart wrenching sight considering how active she was in her heydays and I can only imagine how sad and depressed she is now.
The best thing balik Germany is I got to bring Mama and Abah along with me after rounds of pujuk Opah session. Since Apit is going to London in October and wanted to bring Mama & Abah along, Mama said might as well she follows me back and balik with Apit, dapat lama sikit. We kept it a surprise from the kids and boy…..were they surprised when they saw Atok and Tok Ma in the house. Jaja was obviously mightily upset and I don’t blame her for that coz she was so looking forward to Raya-ing with her Tok Ma…anyway bila dia dah cool down sikit, managed to explain to her the justifications and she accepts them albeit reluctantly. So Jaja beraya la with her Opah Chik and Mak Su Farah and Onyang and the rest of the Bedah clan as she has to be back at school in KT early. She had fun catching up with her Mak Su Farah and Mak Yong Fatin plus all the attention from all the aunties/uncles/opah/atuk sedaras.
I understand that this Raya was made merrier in KL with several gatherings at Ayah Cho’s in Nilai and Chu Jan’s in Bangi especially since Fatin will be leaving for Moscow on 4th Raya to take up medicine, doing Chu Jan and Chu Ezzah proud, 10 A1s and off to Russia straight after SPM. Fatin memang exemplary student, scoring straight As in all her exams at MRSM dari dulu lagi. I bet Akif will also do well in his SPM next year being in MRSM Taiping now. Silap haribulan join kakak dia kat Russia.
Also Ziad leaving for Holland on 29th September to do his doctorate over the next 3-4 years…Wowwwww….Cik Tan and Aunty Ja must be over the moon their son dapat PhD nanti! We’ll get to see more of Ziad here as his Uni is only 3 hours away from us. I had hoped for Jaja to follow in the footsteps of her Mak Yong Fatin, but alas…she has no minat whatsoever in medicine with engineering being her main line of interest, so….. I’m right behind her whatever she chooses and I’m real proud of her achievements so far…as the song goes Que Sera Sera…
Raya for us here was a very low key affair. We went for a day trip to Berlin to partake in the Raya celebration there….pushed off at 6.00 am to arrive just in time for the Solat Sunat Hari Raya at the Malaysian Embassy with the Ambassador and the rest of the Embassy staff as well as some Malaysian students. Terasa la sedikit kemeriahan Raya especially bila the guys had the takbir session before the prayers. Nak kata sedih tu tak la sangat coz the family is here, just that achy feeling of mega rinduness kat Jaja……
Lepas tu bawak Mama & Abah sightseeing Berlin but we were disappointed to see so many roads closed for the Berlin International Marathon. Kena park jauh and jalan kaki to the points of attraction. We were team Malaysia donning our traditional costumes, walking alongside the other marathon runners. Balik dari Check Point Charlie sesat jalan tak jumpa tempat park kereta, berpusing-pusing jalan, dah la in our baju raya much to the interest of the Germans yang asyik toleh dua tiga kali sampai ada satu couple tu tangkap gambar kita orang masa we posed in front of the Berlin Wall. Depa mengata ke or puji…..Wallahualam.
Penatnya tok sah nak cakap la, berpeluh jugak coz that day was hot…ada dalam 5 km we walked, nak tercabut kepala lutut…hopefully boleh burn the rendang, ketupat and kuih raya we ate that day. Hubby dearest punya la penat jadi tour guide leading the Malaysian marathon team yang jalan kaki sesat pusing-pusing kota Berlin tu…….siap tidur dengan sempoi nyer and cantik punya posing, complete dengan baju Melayu and sampin lagi (ala-ala Hang Tuah kepenatan in Berlin….) dekat bench tepi canal sumwhere near Parliament House (Reichtag) while we all jalan kaki pergi tangkap gambar depan Reichtag and Brandenburger Tor. Dia punya tidur teramat la nyenyak sampai he wasn’t at all mengantuk masa the drive back to Hannover.

Now back in Hannover, recuperating from the marathon….Mama sampai termuntah-muntah, she has food poisoning I think as well as sakit2x badan and I have sakit pinggang, nak bergerak jer twitching pain. So taking it easy these few days. Mama & Abah huddled up in the TV room kesejukan coz the weather in Hannover pretty cold especially if it rains so we keep the fireplace going….so warm and cosy sitting there together watching the flames dancing and sipping tea/hot chocolate. Was telling Syirah the other day that we could make S’mores but very the susah nak cari halal marshmallows here. Most of them have schweingelatine (schwein being pig in German) as one of the ingredients.
Sightseeing will likely be over the weekends only as I’m working, so next trip may go to Holland bawa Mama & Abah gi tengok Ziad who’ll be arriving on 29th ni. The kids kena tinggal kat rumah ler kut as tak muat kereta, under the regulation we can only carry 3 passengers kat belakang. For everybody to go nak kena sewa MPV which is expensive. Hari tu gi Berlin cost us 140 Euro for Vito-MPV (that’s RM700) for just one day.
So……itulah kisahnya this time. Lama tak tulih, sekali tulih berjela-jela, This should last for a while. Until the next trip and sembang-sembang……Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir Batin.
